POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the custodian is vital in upholding the cleanliness and functionality of the school premises, thereby supporting a healthy and positive learning atmosphere for students. The custodian not only handles routine maintenance tasks but also assists educators in arranging and maintaining classroom setups.

Additionally, the custodian exemplifies professionalism and courtesy, serving as a role model for students. Responsibilities also include collaborating with school administration to ensure security and support during various activities.


COMPENSATION:
Salary will be determined in accordance with the NCSD/OSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Employees are eligible for retirement plan contributions through the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP), with mandatory employee contributions applicable after six months of service.



SCHEDULE:
The typical working hours are from 3:15 PM to 11:45 PM, subject to adjustments based on departmental needs.

WORK CALENDAR:
260 days annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should have experience working with diverse communities or demonstrate a commitment to engaging with varied populations. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, or two years of custodial experience may be considered as a substitute for educational qualifications.

Additional qualifications include the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders and the capability to work independently with minimal supervision.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual and bicultural skills are preferred. Familiarity with security systems, fire alarms, and HVAC controls is advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.

Cleaning Duties:
a.

Perform thorough cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing surfaces; ensure restrooms are maintained to high standards; and manage waste disposal.

b.

Maintain cleanliness in and around school grounds, ensuring safety during adverse weather conditions.

c.

Utilize cleaning agents safely and according to established protocols.

d.

Conduct minor repairs and maintenance as directed by maintenance personnel.

2.

Administrative Responsibilities:
a.

Identify maintenance needs and ensure timely service requests are submitted.

b.

Order necessary cleaning supplies and maintain inventory.

3.

Safety and Security:
a.

Conduct regular inspections of facilities to prevent accidents and damage.

b.

Ensure that the building is secured at the end of each shift.

c.

Assist in emergency preparedness and response planning.
