Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for applying radio nuclides to assist physicians in detecting, diagnosing, and treating diseases and abnormalities. This role involves proper patient positioning, maintenance of nuclear equipment, and radiographic file management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Position and instruct patients for radio nuclide application using specialized equipment and procedures.
  • Insert IVs for injections and make adjustments to nuclear equipment as prescribed by attending physicians.
  • Handle emergency situations and review PACS processing of nuclear medicine.
  • Prepare and maintain records and files of procedures, purge outdated files, and troubleshoot equipment failure.
  • Requisition supplies, consult with referring physicians, and provide training and technical direction to lower-level technicians and nurses.
  • Establish and maintain effective relations with medical and nursing staff to ensure adequate and timely patient servicing.
Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. They will also have good knowledge of modern procedures used in nuclear medicine examinations, operation of nuclear equipment, human anatomy, and required safety precautions.

Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions, direct and instruct others, handle sick and injured patients properly, and effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email, and database software.
