Job Title: Kinship Navigator

Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kinship Navigator to join our team. As a Kinship Navigator, you will provide essential support and guidance to kinship caregivers, empowering them to navigate the complex system of out-of-home care and access necessary resources and services.

Job Summary

The Kinship Navigator will work closely with kinship families, providing flexible and responsive services to meet their unique needs. This includes assisting with accessing healthcare and legal services, support groups, advocacy, training, and emergency funds. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple requests and maintain open communication with the direct supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accept and respond to referrals from the community, kinship parents, and inter-agencies
  • Prioritize and manage multiple requests simultaneously
  • Maintain frequent, open communication with direct supervisor regarding services delivered, concerns, or questions
  • Obtain necessary releases and consents, as needed
  • Assist caregivers in identifying and removing barriers to receiving services
  • Create a Navigation Plan, in partnership, with the caregiver to meet identified needs
  • Collect and record all data on presenting problems and resources/supports given in client database system (SAM)
  • Analyze data to identify trends and directions for future systemic advocacy efforts
  • Participate in ongoing meetings/professional memberships and trainings as required by the Program Supervisor and CPO
  • Act as liaison with key community stakeholders and develop open and clear communication with those partners and attend community meetings as needed
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field; and two or more years of experience in child welfare, family advocacy, case management, or closely related area
  • Candidates having lived experience in kinship care or providing kinship care is preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years old in possession of a valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
