The Opportunity

Our Land Geospatial team collaborates with multiple stakeholders across all disciplines of our organization, utilizing the power of GIS to visualize our business, combine data, reveal patterns, and offer insights in industry trends across North America. As an intern, you will work closely with an experienced mentor and be assigned a project and various other responsibilities intended to provide you with learning opportunities while delivering meaningful contributions to Ovintiv.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Land Geospatial team to develop GIS solutions that drive business insights and decision-making.
  • Work on the front line of the team's innovation efforts through projects directly impacting the business.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of all facets of an upstream energy business while benefiting from the mentorship of a team of accomplished GIS solution development specialists.
  • Develop technical skills in automation, analytics, iterative product development, geostatistical modeling, and UI/UX design in an enterprise environment.
  • Gain soft skills such as presenting, networking, eliciting requirements, and interviewing end users to improve product outcomes.
Requirements
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student through December 2025.
  • Must be available May 19 - August 8, 2025.
  • Enrollment/background in GIS, Geography or Earth Sciences for the geospatial intern role.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the Country of placement without sponsorship.
Compensation

Ovintiv offers a competitive hourly rate of $35.00 USD, with compensation varying based on year in school.
