The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in strategizing, organizing, and overseeing the procurement processes for various goods including Raw Products, Dry Goods, Supplies, and Condiments. This position is responsible for entering purchase orders into the AS 400 system and ensuring timely updates and closures as orders are fulfilled.
- Evaluate inventory levels to establish optimal ordering quantities.
- Initiate orders with external suppliers and coordinate internal requests to guarantee timely deliveries. Maintain daily communication with relevant departments.
- Submit and monitor credit applications to secure approvals for any non-compliant products or services.
- Ensure that all records, files, and reports adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance within the purchasing framework.
- This role requires daily interaction with various departments including Materials Management, National Raw Product, Scheduling, Shipping and Receiving, Production, Customer Service, Maintenance, and Transportation to meet departmental and organizational objectives such as order fulfillment, safety, and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Oversee supply chain projects aligned with corporate strategic goals, ensuring effective implementation, sustainability, control, and measurement. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

- Strong understanding of purchasing principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to devise logical solutions to emerging challenges.
- Capacity to maintain focus and direction in a dynamic environment while exhibiting strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, leveraging coaching and company values to surpass customer expectations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and MRP systems.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Availability for flexible scheduling, including days, nights, and weekends.
