Shawano County is seeking a skilled Highway Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Highway Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of highways, including operating heavy equipment, performing manual labor, and performing daily operator maintenance checks.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment, such as motor graders, hydraulic excavators, and front-end loaders, to perform construction, maintenance, and repair work on highways.
- Perform manual labor, such as shoveling, carrying, moving, and lifting materials, as needed.
- Perform daily operator maintenance checks and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Perform minor repair on machinery and equipment.
- Operate a chainsaw for brush/tree cutting along road right-of-way.
- Responsible for the maintenance of bridges.
- Perform traffic control and flagging as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three to five years related experience.
- Requires a valid Wisconsin driver's license with CDL (proper endorsements) and adequate insurance as required by County Policy. MSHA certification. Have or have the ability to obtain tanker endorsement within 3 months of employment.
