Primary Purpose:


The role involves coordinating patient care for the clinic by assessing the urgency and expertise required to address patient concerns effectively.

The nurse will provide professional nursing care by evaluating patient conditions and implementing clinical interventions as necessary.

This position requires collaboration with healthcare providers to educate patients and address medical inquiries, thereby enhancing patient outcomes while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

This role is shared with two experienced RNs, fostering both teamwork and independent work, with opportunities to develop additional triage protocols and expand essential functions in a positive, dynamic team environment focused on building patient relationships.

Essential Functions:
Collaborates with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and patients to evaluate the urgency of patient issues. Assists patients in securing appropriate appointments as necessary.


Works alongside healthcare professionals to address questions related to medications, health education, and medical advice within the defined scope of practice.


Provides suitable advice based on established departmental policies and seeks provider consultation when necessary in response to patient medical care inquiries.

Maintains accurate records of patient and physician communications regarding medical care in accordance with standard medical record documentation requirements.

Timely retrieval of messages from phone mail and responsive action to patient needs based on medical priority.


Acts as a resource for clinic staff regarding medical information, patient assessments, and illness management.


Participates actively in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance performance.

Facilitates the development of training and competency curriculum for Medical Assistants.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping:
Bending downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.

Reaching:
Extending hands and arms in any direction.

Mobility:

The individual in this role must occasionally move between work sites and navigate within the office to access files and equipment.


Communication:
Frequent communication with others is required.

PPE:

Work in a biohazard laboratory environment necessitates the use of personal protective equipment in compliance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.


ARUP Policies and Procedures:
Adherence to all ARUP Policies and Procedures is mandatory.

Sedentary Work:

Involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.


Fine Motor Control:
Involves tasks such as picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand.

Vision:

Requires close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform various tasks, including making general observations of depth and distance.

Associate's Degree or higher

Bachelor's Degree or higher

Basic Life Support

State Registered Nurse

Experience

Required

Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of relevant experience as a registered nurse

Or Associate's degree with four (4) years of relevant experience as a registered nurse.

Current Basic Life Support certification

Current Utah State Registered Nurse license
