Role Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is tasked with ensuring the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall aesthetic of the designated work environment. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere for employees, visitors, and other occupants. The Specialist will carry out cleaning and maintenance duties to uphold high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and Upkeep: Responsible for sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors; dusting and sanitizing surfaces, including desks, tables, countertops, and fixtures. Duties also include cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, emptying trash and recycling bins, and cleaning windows and glass surfaces.
  • Supply Management: Monitor and replenish restroom supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizers. Ensure dispensers for hygiene products are adequately stocked.
  • Floor Maintenance: Sweep and mop hard floors to maintain cleanliness and appearance. Vacuum carpets and rugs, and operate floor cleaning equipment such as polishers and buffers. Report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Safety and Security: Identify and address safety hazards and potential security concerns. Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly to the supervisor.
  • Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks associated with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Customer Interaction: Provide courteous assistance to building occupants, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • At least one year of experience in a janitorial role is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
