Host/Hostess - Guest Service Specialist

Job Summary

The Host/Hostess is a vital member of the Denny's team, responsible for providing exceptional guest service and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. As a Host/Hostess, you will be the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests immediately and seat them in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Manage the guest waiting list and adhere to proper seating order procedures.
  • Describe promotions and suggestively sell while seating guests, taking initial beverage orders.
  • Attend to guest needs during the entire dining experience, including taking orders and delivering To Go orders correctly.
  • Address complaints promptly and notify the supervisor of any issues.
  • Assist service personnel in providing beverage orders and refills, clearing and setting tables.
  • Maintain a clean and organized foyer area, adhering to Denny's Brand Standards.
  • Complete all required side-work, including deep cleaning assignments.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to raise a tray weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, wipe, lift, and grasp.
  • Sufficient mobility to move and operate in the work area.
  • Ability to stand and walk during the entire shift.
  • Ability to hear well in a loud environment to respond to employee and guest needs.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
  • Ability to observe and differentiate between monetary denominations.
  • Ability to operate a point of sale system.

Position Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to pass all required tests and training requirements for the position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Meets Denny's uniform and grooming standards.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Dependability and ability to learn basic tasks and follow instructions.
