About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Appraiser to join our team at Amica Insurance. As an Appraiser, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our customers receive accurate and fair assessments of their vehicle damage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish Fair and Reasonable Repair Costs: Prepare accurate and legible desk appraisals and re-inspections using manuals and computerized appraisal systems, applying sound repair practices and separating non-related damage.
  • Exceed Productivity and Cycle Time Standards: Consistently meet or exceed minimum standards for productivity and cycle time, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Determine Actual Cash Value and Salvage Values: Establish actual cash value of total losses and determine accurate salvage values, taking into account motor vehicle design changes and repair solutions.
  • Maintain Strong Communication: Develop and maintain strong open lines of communication with supervisors, regional managers, branch employees, and third-party vendors.
  • Assist in CAT Assignment and Estimate Review Process: Assist in the assignment and review of catastrophe (CAT) estimates, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Industry Experience: 1-2 years of experience in the automotive damage estimating industry.
  • Knowledge of Automobile Body and Mechanical Repair Practices: Possess a basic working knowledge of automobile body and mechanical repair practices, techniques, and costs.
  • APD Experience and Familiarity with Company Established Appraisal Workflow: Have experience with APD and familiarity with company-established appraisal workflow and APD best practices.
  • Proficiency in Use of Automobile Damage Estimating Manuals and Computerized Appraisal Workflow: Possess proficiency in the use of automobile damage estimating manuals and computerized appraisal workflow, total loss, and auditing systems used by Amica and its business partners.
  • State Appraisal Licensing Law: Be familiar with State Appraisal Licensing Law and obtain and maintain state-required licensing, where applicable.
  • Designations and Certifications: Maintain various designations and certifications in the appraisal field.
  • Analytical, Communication, and Negotiation Skills: Possess good analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Functional Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Possess functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • I-CAR Training: Complete required I-CAR training.
