Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at NorthShore University HealthSystem. As a Recreational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic recreation services to patients on our inpatient psychiatric units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized leisure assessment and treatment plans to promote patient engagement and well-being.
  • Lead therapeutic recreation activities, including arts and crafts, games, and outdoor programs, to foster socialization and relaxation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and patient-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment by promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and open communication.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a hospital setting, preferably in a psychiatric unit.
  • CPR certification and registration with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (NCTRS) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
