Job Summary:

As a Certified Medical Assistant at Geisinger Health System, you will provide direct patient care and clinical support for physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting. You will function as an integral member of the healthcare team under the direction of the provider.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and document patient information, including reason for visit, weight, vital signs, and medication review.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases.
  • Assist patients as needed to prepare for visits with providers, ensuring their safety and privacy.
  • Provide direct patient care as directed by providers, including performing EKGs, wound dressings, and supporting minor surgical procedures.
  • Prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform phlebotomy and assist in specific laboratory functions relative to testing, reporting, and quality assurance of laboratory specimens.
  • Document patient information in the electronic medical record and scheduling system.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, and other healthcare team members to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely response to patient needs.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
  • Certified by one of the listed governing associations required: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
