Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). As a Palliative Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with serious illnesses and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for the initial evaluation and treatment of patients in our Inpatient Centers
  • Perform initial Hospice history and physical, write standard orders, and manage patient symptoms
  • Coordinate care with other members of the Interdisciplinary Team through daily rounds and document care activities
  • Attend weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings and work with the Hospice Access Team to facilitate smooth admissions
  • Evaluate patient progress and alter treatment modalities as needed
  • Document results of technical functions performed and report abnormal findings to the physician or designee
  • Act as a clinical resource and support nursing and hospital performance improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field
  • Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Nurse Practitioner
  • At least five years of related experience in a healthcare environment
  • At least one year of experience in Hospice and/or Palliative care
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work under varying degrees of stress
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate with staff, patients, and families
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Palliative Care or related field
  • Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care through the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC)
  • Experience with integrative medicine and health
