Job Summary
The Echocardiography Specialist at Torrance Memorial Medical Center performs high-quality ultrasound examinations of the heart and related vessels, utilizing advanced technology to capture detailed images of cardiac structures. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent interpersonal relationships, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts echocardiography studies on adult patients, adhering to department and Medical Center standards.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise in echocardiography, including 2D and M-Mode echo cardiology and color-flow Doppler studies.
- Prepares studies for interpretation by physicians, ensuring accurate calculations of cardiac structures.
- Completes all paperwork accurately and maintains a daily log of studies.
- Maintains medication security and ensures patient safety and confidentiality.
- Provides patients and families with information and instructions regarding procedures, evaluating barriers to understanding.
- Prepares patients for exams and evaluates equipment for service and repair.
- Covers for Ultrasound Sonographer as needed, if qualified.
- Maintains a safe working and patient environment.
- Utilizes effective communication and problem-solving skills in all interactions.
- Assists in training and orientation of new employees and students.
- Participates in department meetings, inservice education, and policy/procedure review.
- Takes responsibility for learning about trends and changes in echocardiography.
Requirements
- Echocardiography graduate with RDMS or RDMS eligible.
- 3 years of experience in adult echocardiography as an Echo Technician in an office or hospital setting.
Compensation
$57.65 per hour
