The Echocardiography Specialist at Torrance Memorial Medical Center performs high-quality ultrasound examinations of the heart and related vessels, utilizing advanced technology to capture detailed images of cardiac structures. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent interpersonal relationships, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts echocardiography studies on adult patients, adhering to department and Medical Center standards.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in echocardiography, including 2D and M-Mode echo cardiology and color-flow Doppler studies.
  • Prepares studies for interpretation by physicians, ensuring accurate calculations of cardiac structures.
  • Completes all paperwork accurately and maintains a daily log of studies.
  • Maintains medication security and ensures patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Provides patients and families with information and instructions regarding procedures, evaluating barriers to understanding.
  • Prepares patients for exams and evaluates equipment for service and repair.
  • Covers for Ultrasound Sonographer as needed, if qualified.
  • Maintains a safe working and patient environment.
  • Utilizes effective communication and problem-solving skills in all interactions.
  • Assists in training and orientation of new employees and students.
  • Participates in department meetings, inservice education, and policy/procedure review.
  • Takes responsibility for learning about trends and changes in echocardiography.

Requirements

  • Echocardiography graduate with RDMS or RDMS eligible.
  • 3 years of experience in adult echocardiography as an Echo Technician in an office or hospital setting.

Compensation

$57.65 per hour
