These innovations will encompass functional foods, therapeutic foods, and highly nutritious beverages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifying, isolating, and characterizing proteins and carbohydrates to enhance their performance in plant-based food applications.
- Leading experimental designs and process development initiatives focusing on protein and carbohydrate biochemistry, structural analysis, and biotransformation techniques.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on research and development projects as well as product commercialization efforts related to protein and carbohydrate science.
- Fostering innovation by monitoring advancements in relevant scientific domains to uncover and pursue strategic product development avenues.
- Providing training and mentorship to research assistants, students, and other personnel in research methodologies and analytical techniques.
Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology, or a related field in life sciences.
- Proficient in characterizing carbohydrates through enzymatic assays, HPLC, GC, size exclusion chromatography, and various chromatographic techniques.
- Expertise in protein characterization utilizing both enzymatic and instrumental methodologies.
- Experience in developing analytical methods for characterizing proteins or carbohydrates, including gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, HPLC, Western Blotting, Enzyme Activity Assays, and Protein Isolation and Purification.
- Familiarity with food proteins, grain proteins, lipids, vitamins, and other nutritional components is advantageous.
- The ideal candidate will possess patents and publications that reflect a strong capacity for innovation.
