We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC Installation Assistant to join our team at NRG Energy. As a key member of our Residential New Construction or Retail Teams, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful installation of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment, adhering to company requirements and manufacturer specifications.
  • Test systems to ensure proper functioning and identify any issues that may require repair.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform start-up on air conditioning systems as needed and fabricate and install various ducts and duct fittings.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with experience potentially substituting for education.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn the HVAC trade.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computing skills and the ability to use a computer, laptop, or tablet.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to work overtime with little notice and occasional weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC trade school certification.
  • Prior experience in HVAC installation.
  • EPA Certification.
Working Conditions
  • Work will primarily take place at occupied residential homes or construction sites, with minimal time spent in an office environment.
  • Regular travel by vehicle to and from work locations.
  • Exposure to construction environments involving equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials, and odors.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to drive and operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Perform tasks requiring climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work on platforms/scaffolding.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks/respirators, reflective safety vests, gloves, and safety toe, construction-grade work boots.
  • Adhere to long periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
