Assembly Operator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Assembly Operator to join our team at Brentwood Industries, Inc. in Reading, PA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform assembly work by hand or using specified equipment to produce parts that meet customer expectations.
  • Read and understand work orders or follow oral instructions to produce parts that meet specifications.
  • Load and unload plastic parts into die cutters or CNC fixtures for trimming.
  • Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, or scrap from finished pieces using tools such as air hoses, band saws, and trimmers.
  • Assemble formed parts using tools such as drills, glue guns, and presses.
  • Inspect quality of finished products and report any quality issues to the Setup Person or Shift Supervisor.
  • Count and pack finished products into boxes for shipping or inventory.
  • Work in different work centers as production needs require.
  • Input accurate daily production information in the computer shop floor data collection system.
  • Work with glues, adhesives, paints, solvents, and other chemicals related to job-specific functions.
  • Maintain department housekeeping and 5S program requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Follow Good Documentation Practices rules in alignment with QMS/EMS requirements.
  • Perform all work procedures according to established Quality Management & Environmental Management Systems.
  • Perform job responsibilities and tasks in compliance with Company policies, procedures, and safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Tow-Motor preferred, not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
