Position Overview:

As a Senior Manager of Mobile Engineering, you will be tasked with strategizing, designing, and supervising projects to ensure their effective implementation. You will also establish system requirements and objectives based on the needs of customers and stakeholders. Your role includes managing budgets, finances, and risk assessments while leading one or more engineering teams. Additionally, you will mentor and inspire technical professionals, while exploring new product opportunities for the advancement of both the team and the organization.

About the Team:

Our team collaborates closely with our U.S. retail and eCommerce divisions to enhance customer experiences by equipping team members, stores, and merchants with innovative technology solutions. Walmart U.S. offers a vast array of products that our customers appreciate, whether they shop online, via mobile applications, or in physical stores. Key focus areas include customer engagement, store operations, employee support, merchant tools, data science, and personalized search functionalities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of 8-15 engineers specializing in mobile applications (Android preferred).
  • Architect and execute intricate features for Walmart's mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with product and technology partners to define the roadmap for our team, enhancing both front-end and back-end platforms.
  • Utilize CI/CD frameworks to boost developer efficiency.
  • Prioritize Test Automation and develop the corresponding framework.
  • Document all implemented solutions comprehensively.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and innovation by promoting best practices.
  • Guide a team of senior individual contributors.
  • Lead and engage in medium to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by interpreting project requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Leverage industry research to enhance Walmart's technological landscape by analyzing best practices, benchmarking against internal processes, and defining software development standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of experience in mobile software development (Android preferred).
  • 3+ years of managerial experience leading teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering features that meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing platform enhancements.
  • Solid experience in building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with integrating third-party services.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation and consensus-building skills.
