Role Overview:

The Land Survey Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, execution, assessment, quality assurance, documentation, reporting, and production of surveying services and deliverables. Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of land surveying practices, data gathering techniques, and the ability to utilize fundamental concepts of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the precision of survey data, including measurements and calculations collected at various sites.
  • Lead or conduct surveys to define legal property boundaries based on official deeds and titles.
  • Prepare or supervise the creation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents associated with surveying tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineering and architectural teams, clients, and other stakeholders involved in projects.
  • Train and direct assistants and helpers in conducting surveys or drafting maps.
  • Evaluate survey objectives and specifications to prepare proposals or guide others in proposal development.
  • Establish criteria for surveying methods and procedures.
  • Research surveying and mapping techniques, leveraging knowledge of photogrammetric map compilation and electronic data processing.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Progress towards professional licensure in Virginia (S.I.T. and L.S) is required.
  • A valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is essential.
  • Progressive experience in surveying roles (such as survey instrument operator, survey crew chief, or survey CAD technician) is preferred.
  • Ability to compute proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Proficiency in applying basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry concepts.
  • Capability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite are necessary.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other relevant software, utilizing these tools effectively for efficient and accurate work.
  • Possess a suitable level of knowledge regarding office and surveying equipment.
