Job Summary:

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners is seeking a skilled Locksmith to join our team. As a Locksmith, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing locks and locking devices for our facilities. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, inspect, repair, and replace cylinder and key locks, deadbolts, door closers, and related locking devices for doors, jail cell doors, cupboards, etc.
• Utilize power tools to complete job duties, including replacing padlocks, changing safe combinations, and installing card readers and alarm locks.
• Maintain a master key system with trace and code records, ensuring accurate and secure access control.
• Repair electronic locking devices and remove broken keys from locks, replacing tumblers as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance, including lubricating, aligning, and adjusting locks, cleaning and maintaining key equipment and grinders.
• Inspect locks for wear and tear, malfunctions, and other issues, taking corrective action as necessary.
• Prepare and maintain office records, work orders, and inventory, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
• Place orders for materials and supplies as needed, ensuring timely delivery and availability.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED, supplemented by vocational training in locksmith functions and three (3) years of experience as a commercial locksmith.
• Valid Ohio driver's license, with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

This role may require working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent deadlines and priorities. The Locksmith may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform duties, and may be exposed to extreme elements on occasion. Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this role.
