Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team at Richmond National, a specialty property and casualty insurance company. As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting and binding new and renewal business, managing assigned brokers, territories, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting and Binding: Review and analyze risks to determine acceptability based on company underwriting appetite and authority.
  • Risk Management: Direct loss control services to better assess risks and develop tailored policies.
  • Policy Management: Oversee, review, and approve endorsements, and communicate with brokers to develop opportunities.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges, and create, analyze, and interpret information from various reports.
  • Collaboration and Training: Develop positive working relationships with brokers, contribute to training and mentoring of new team members, and handle other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 1+ year of insurance underwriting experience, with E&S experience preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical and organizational skills, understanding of negotiation processes, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
