Senior Underwriter Role

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for setting up and ensuring the quality of underwriting processes. This entails analyzing company, client, channel, product, and industry data and trends to assess risk and guarantee the accuracy of underwriting processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain product set-ups and quality assurance of underwriting processes.
  • Develop and implement premium rates for existing and new insurance and non-insurance programs.
  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations with business lines to achieve consensus on product pricing and new product development.
  • Evaluate accounts for special commissions or exceptions to identify potential overlaps.
  • Collaborate with compliance and actuarial services to develop and manage new products.
  • Compile underwriting data to assess the profitability of specific lines of business and design reports as needed.
  • Maintain accurate underwriting records and manage databases used for analysis.
  • Enhance current pricing tools and develop new pricing models and tools.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience.
  • Seven years of underwriting experience in affinity, short-tail, accident and health, or property and casualty insurance, or equivalent experience in roles with significant exposure to risk assessment, financial analysis, and decision-making in insurance or related fields.
  • Complex modeling, R, and SQL skills are strongly preferred.
  • Commercial underwriting experience and certifications such as FLMI and/or CPCU are preferred.
  • Experience in the insurance or healthcare industry is preferred.
