Position Title: Instructional Specialist: ABI Program (Non-Credit) - Adjunct Professor

Department: ACCESS

Division: Student Services

Compensation: $61 per hour (based on lecture hour equivalent)

Overview:

This is a temporary, hourly position that operates on an as-needed basis.

This recruitment is aimed at establishing a continuous pool of applicants for part-time, temporary roles. Departments will utilize this pool to fill positions as necessary. Selected candidates will be contacted for interviews as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Act as the primary instructor for the Acquired Brain Injury Program, guiding educational activities for students within the Assistive Technology Center.
2) Design, develop, and implement tailored instructional strategies for ABI students, monitoring their progress effectively.
3) Support students in utilizing campus assistive technology for their academic pursuits.
4) Evaluate and recommend suitable cognitive and academic software for student use.
5) Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned, ensuring compliance with administrative duties and institutional policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

A. One of the following qualifications from a regionally accredited institution:
  1. Master's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology; OR
  2. Master's degree in a foreign equivalent in Speech Pathology and Audiology or Communication Disorders; OR
  3. Current California license as a Speech-Language Pathologist; OR
  4. California Community College credential, "Valid for Life" (no longer issued), allowing service as an instructor in the relevant discipline; a copy of the valid credential must be submitted with the application.

B. A commitment to the community college's mission of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse needs; ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment; and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by non-traditional students.
