Medical Technician

At Discovery Village at the West End, we are seeking a skilled Senior Care Professional to provide exceptional care and support to our residents.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide hands-on care and physical/emotional support to residents in a safe and comfortable environment.
- Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift, ensuring their well-being and safety.
- Observe, report, and document symptoms and conditions of residents, including changes in skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary, and participation in activities.
- Respond promptly to security system and resident call bells, and notify supervisor and/or Health Care Coordinator of increased care needs.
- Assist with continence management, serve and collect food trays, and maintain cleanliness of resident suites and community restrooms.
- Help residents maintain independence, promote dignity, and physical safety, and engage them in life skills and other life enrichment activities.
- Greets and assists all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
- Perform resident laundry as assigned and needed.
- Review service plan to learn pertinent information about residents.
- Assist/observe medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Document and initial form as medications are given, including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including resident medication.
- Report all resident concerns made while assisting resident with medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator.
- Assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system, and count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
Previous experience working with seniors is preferred.
