Position Overview: The Detroit office of SmithGroup is in search of a Senior Project Architect to enhance our dynamic team. Recognized as one of Southeast Michigan's Top Workplaces, we pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a resource across the office, providing expertise on complex architectural issues.
  • Lead technical efforts on significant design projects while managing multiple smaller initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough quality control reviews and ensure adherence to established guidelines.
  • Guide team members in applying architectural standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with design and technical architects, as well as clients, throughout the documentation and construction administration phases.
  • Mentor junior staff and engage in performance development activities.
  • Participate in recruitment and interviewing processes as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience as a technical architect, with a focus on medium to large-scale projects.
  • Strong technical skills and proven experience from schematic design through to construction documentation.
  • In-depth understanding of code compliance, jurisdictional reviews, and construction methodologies.
  • Experience in leading architectural teams and project groups.
  • Proficiency in current design software, including Revit and SketchUp.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, fostering trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
