Logistics Operations Director

Overview

The Logistics Operations Director plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the movement of goods, managing inventory, and coordinating logistics operations within Essendant. This strategic position impacts the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the supply chain, ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Logistics Strategies: Create and execute logistics strategies, policies, and procedures to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage Transportation and Distribution: Optimize transportation and distribution processes to reduce costs and enhance customer experience.
  • Inventory Management and Warehousing: Oversee inventory management and warehousing activities to ensure accurate tracking and timely delivery of products.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the logistics team to ensure high performance, provide guidance and support to team members, and promote a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Analysis and Improvement: Monitor and analyze logistics KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement data-driven solutions to drive continuous growth and profitability.
  • Negotiation and Partnership Building: Negotiate contracts and rates with shipping lines, carriers, and other vendors to secure favorable terms and build strong relationships.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with sales, procurement, and production teams to meet customer demands and ensure seamless communication across departments.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, laws, and industry standards to mitigate risks and maintain a strong reputation.
  • Issue Resolution and Cost Savings: Resolve transportation and logistics issues in a timely manner and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining service levels.
  • Performance Reviews and Reporting: Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to the team, preparing and presenting logistics reports to management to inform strategic decision-making.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or relevant field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management, with a track record of optimizing logistics operations and reducing costs.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team, inspire collaboration, and drive results-oriented performance.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to think critically and develop innovative solutions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in logistics software and MS Office applications, with in-depth knowledge of local and international shipping regulations.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Outstanding negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and facilitate effective collaboration.
  • Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, based on industry standards and market conditions. Note that this is an estimate and may vary depending on individual qualifications, experience, and location.
