Newport, Rhode Island, United States General Dynamics Information Technology Full time

We are seeking a highly motivated RF System Specialist to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.

As an RF System Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex RF systems used in various applications such as submarine periscopes and photonics-based imaging systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the developed systems meet the required specifications and standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RF system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, certification, design, and development. Experience with electronic surveillance systems, communication systems, GPS systems, direction finding systems, early warning systems, radar systems, software-defined radios, cabling, and waveguides is highly desirable. Knowledge of commercial off-the-shelf digital cameras, video cameras, infrared cameras, night vision equipment, and video distribution systems is also a plus.

You will possess excellent problem-solving skills and be able to read, interpret, troubleshoot, and apply information derived from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. The ability to operate basic measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, and learn new skills via hands-on training and mentorship from senior staff is required. On-the-job training will be provided for system-specific diagnosis and repairs.

This position requires some work on SUBSAFE components, so previous experience working within the Navy's SUBSAFE program is a plus. Knowledge of or ability to learn basic cable building, repairs, and troubleshooting skills to MIL-Spec requirements is also desired. The ability to operate basic hand tools in the disassembly, repair, and re-assembly of various components and systems is essential.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 8 years of applicable experience, an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, and be a US Citizen or US National. A minimum Secret Clearance or ability to attain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $30.83 and $41.71 per hour, based on experience, location, and contractual requirements. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical plan options, dental plan options, a vision plan, and a 401(k) plan with company match. Our employees enjoy full flex work weeks, paid time off plans, holidays, paid parental, military, bereavement, and jury duty leave. We also provide short and long-term disability benefits, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness, and business travel and accident insurance.
