Position Overview

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist is accountable for executing all necessary diagnostic imaging procedures efficiently. This role involves performing examinations as per the directives in the patient's medical record or as prescribed for outpatients. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Diagnostic Imaging Specialist is expected to collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure the safe and precise delivery of patient care. Additionally, the specialist should be open to cross-training in other relevant imaging modalities.

Work Schedule:

Schedules are adaptable to accommodate all shifts and weekends, depending on the hospital's requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts imaging procedures promptly; records necessary information and communicates relevant details to the primary physician and care team.
  • Coordinates and supports the care of assigned patients in partnership with fellow imaging specialists, physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals.
  • Assesses patient conditions to ensure the effective execution of imaging examinations.
  • Educates patients about the procedures to be performed and outlines expectations regarding their cooperation.
  • Delivers comprehensive direct patient care while ensuring a safe and reassuring environment.
  • Collaborates with other staff as needed to address the needs of patients and their families.
  • Ensures that all necessary clinical equipment and supplies are available and utilized safely.
  • Maintains knowledge of patient growth and development across all age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
  • Executes Point of Care procedures promptly in accordance with established policies and procedures. Records necessary information and adheres to all Point of Care quality control standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited radiology technology program.
  • Licensure/ Certification: Must hold a current license from the Arkansas Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist and possess current certification from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days prior to completing orientation. Certification must be renewed by the recommended renewal date on the certification card.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience as a Radiology Technologist is preferred.
