Role Overview:
Guidehouse is on the lookout for a dedicated Sustainability Research and Strategy Specialist to enhance our Defense and Security Segment (D&S). This role involves collaborating with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to facilitate strategic planning, business transformation, advanced data analytics, financial modeling, and training initiatives. The selected candidate will be instrumental in conducting sustainability assessments, formulating strategic frameworks, and utilizing business processes and policy insights to propose enhancements that align with the agency's sustainability objectives, particularly in the realm of international trade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform sustainability evaluations to assist organizations in streamlining operations and enhancing effectiveness.
- Oversee daily communications with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead the rollout of a sustainability strategy framework, including workshops aimed at achieving organizational sustainability targets.
- Facilitate discussions and meetings with stakeholders and executive leadership to inform sustainability policy development and execution.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy, compliance with standards, and timely delivery of outputs.
- Create high-quality briefing materials and concise summaries of complex analyses to communicate progress and effectiveness to senior management.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments related to policy changes, including qualitative and quantitative risk mapping and mitigation strategies.
- Develop implementation plans for proposed organizational changes, covering budget, timelines, system updates, and stakeholder engagement.
- Act as a technical authority on project teams, providing insights into the alignment of processes and structures with organizational goals.
- Support decision-making through effective data visualizations and presentations that highlight key challenges and solutions.
- Engage in research on private sector practices and attend industry events to update CBP leadership on sustainability trends.
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust.
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in sustainability strategy, climate change research, supply chain analysis, or related fields.
- Master's degree in Sustainability, Climate Change, Green Energy, or a related discipline.
- Ten (10) years of professional experience, or five (5) years with a Master's degree.
- Experience in developing sustainability strategies and conducting supply chain analyses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications and data visualization tools.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience in federal government consulting and familiarity with DHS or CBP operations.
