Astronomy Adjunct Professor

Job Title: Adjunct Faculty-Astronomy

Job Summary

We are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach college-level courses in Astronomy at Roane State Community College. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree with 18 or more graduate semester hours in Astronomy or Physics, and work experience in Astronomy. Previous teaching experience is desired, but not required. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach traditional face-to-face classes and use technology to support student learning. The position is contingent upon a successful background check.

Responsibilities:

• Teach college-level Astronomy courses, including ASTR 1010 - Solar System Astronomy and ASTR 1020 - Stars and Galaxies Astronomy
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments
• Use technology, such as Zoom and D2L, to support student learning
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback

Requirements:

• Master's degree with 18 or more graduate semester hours in Astronomy or Physics from a regionally accredited institution
• Work experience in Astronomy
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in a face-to-face setting
• Ability to use technology to support student learning
