Produce Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Assistant to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a Produce Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our produce department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure a positive shopping experience for our customers.
  • Assist the Produce Manager in maintaining accurate inventory levels and ordering produce for the department.
  • Contribute to the creation of an inviting and full produce department, ensuring that all products meet company standards.
  • Participate in receiving and stocking produce, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Produce Manager to address performance issues and provide training to department personnel.
  • Perform register functions, including backup cashiering and handling customer returns.
  • Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees.
  • Stay up-to-date on product knowledge and utilize email and IS programs as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in grocery, retail, or produce environment preferred.
  • Ability to pass food safety training courses and maintain compliance.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through on tasks.
