Pharmacy Technician

Under the direction and supervision of a Pharmacist, performs a variety of functions related to preparation, storage, distribution, and dispensing of prescriptions. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Fills medication orders, including oral, injectable, and topical medications, and intravenous admixtures.
• Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
• Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
• Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy.
• Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.
• Performs necessary record keeping functions.
• Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.
• May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program preferred.
• LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required.

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to work in a clean room environment and follow appropriate clean room guidelines is also required.
