About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Construction Support Manager (Solar) to join our team at Black & Veatch. As a key member of our construction group, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability of solar civil resources with proper expertise and tools to support assigned construction project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide civil support for national solar construction projects.
  • Direct administration and training of solar construction civil personnel for national construction projects.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for construction execution which minimizes cost and duration of construction activities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report civil performance of assigned construction projects to Solar Operation Manager.
  • Provide recommendations to Solar Operation Manager regarding project civil staff assignments/teams.
  • Act as liaison between construction and engineering for all civil related matters.
  • Ensure all Construction Projects meet the Client specified civil quality standards.
  • Support site Civil Superintendents in developing SOPs, man-loaded and equipment-loaded schedules (fragnet schedules), staging plans, bill of materials, quality control plans.
  • Lead weekly civil superintendent calls to discuss safety, quality, productivity, and resource needs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships and develop a high level of trust and credibility with key clients, alliance partners, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Communicate lessons learned.
  • Review project Budget/Unit Rates with assigned superintendent and determine if in line with company earning rules.
  • Coordinate and track Civil equipment assignments with site teams and CEF's and maintain spreadsheet for updates.
  • Direct corrective action for civil discipline problems or poor performance. Keeps Department and Human Resources Department involved and informed as required.
  • Enforce and interpret division and department policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities.
  • Identify and assess improvement opportunities which will add value. Champions continuous improvement efforts. Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.
  • Travel to support sites when and where needed.
Requirements
  • 3 years of construction supervisory experience within solar construction industry.
  • 3 years of experience in heavy civil solar projects.
  • Experience in GPS machine control.
  • Solar Construction experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum software capability requirements: Agtek, MS Word, MS Excel.
Work Environment/Physical Demands

This position is considered a safety sensitive position. The work environment is typical of a construction site, with exposure to inclement weather, dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. The physical demands include lifting and carrying heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, moving, and walking long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
