Workover Rig Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary:

The Workover Rig Supervisor is a critical role that requires a strong focus on safety and operational performance. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing daily activities at the rig site, leading the effective implementation of the well program, and ensuring operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visible EHS leadership and promote safe operations
  • Promote adherence to Safe Work Practices (DROPS, Working at Heights, Land Transportation, Lifting and Hoisting, and Energy Isolation) including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) preparation and review
  • Actively participate in safety meetings (pre job, post task debriefs (AAR) and pre tower) and promote a healthy safety culture
  • Participate in Risk Assessments and promote Stop Work Authority
  • Attend and actively participate in all emergency drills and report all incidents, accidents, and near misses
  • Ensure comprehensive handover practices between day shift and night shift crews as well as during crew change (if applicable)
  • Conduct daily worksite inspections to ensure compliance with corporate policies and participate in hazard hunts daily
  • Monitor service contractors and all third-party contractors to ensure compliance with corporate policies
  • Support Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility Management System implementation
  • Participate in meetings and audits with Regulatory agencies (if required)
  • Responsible for Well Control preparations, including verification of BOP testing and documented barrier management
  • Provide support for company and service contractor emergency response activities and assist in training and drills
  • Participate in maintenance of the well site emergency response plan
  • Ensure integrity of BOP re-certification
  • Supervise maintenance activities to ensure Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and well plans are followed
  • Communicate back to office daily work progress and any incidents or spills
  • Supervise mobilization, rig up and rig down of workover services
  • Monitor well status and maintain appropriate barrier control
  • Monitor and report daily cost in Wellview to ensure cost-effective operations
  • Preparation of the daily reports in Wellview, including equipment breakdowns and failure analyses
  • Utilize risk assessments and lessons learned to promote safety and efficiency, also to reduce non-productive time (NPT)
  • Monitor contractors' management system to ensure that work processes are conducted consistent with both contractor's and company's expectations
  • Ensure third-party contractors are fit for duty and integrated with ongoing operations
  • Conduct update meetings with service providers and other contractors as needed
  • Reviews and signs service provider timesheets and field tickets
  • Plans ahead and order services and materials in a timely manner to prevent downtime
  • Serve as a liaison between all applicable parties, be able to adjust project plans and resources to meet project needs

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Well Control Supervisor certificate
  • Safe Land Certification or OSHA 10
  • English language proficiency
  • Minimum of 10 years well operations experience
  • Preferred: At minimum three years of onshore workover operations experience, in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, and cold weather operations experience
