Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Per Diem OR Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our surgical staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the operating room. Your expertise and leadership skills will be essential in directing the nursing staff in the execution of the nursing process.

About the Role

This role requires strong clinical knowledge and experience in managing surgical patients from infancy to geriatrics. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery and compliance with departmental standards. Additionally, you will participate in performance improvement audits, assist in the development of staff performance standards, and coordinate orientation for new nursing employees.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you should possess excellent communication skills, good organizational habits, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations. A strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient is essential. You should also have a solid understanding of aseptic technique and its implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer direct and indirect patient care within the surgical area
  • Assist with developing and complying with department and AORN standards
  • Review and revise nursing care standards
  • Act as a professional liaison with physicians who perform procedures
  • Participate in performance improvement processes and document results
  • Coordinate surgical caseload by reviewing schedules, modifying rooms, and adjusting staffing assignments as necessary
  • Ensure appropriate inventory and ordering of departmental supplies
  • Seek opportunities for increased cost-effective measures
  • Supervise staff in maintaining or decreasing costs

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a hospital OR setting
  • Current Arizona Nursing License
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification (preferred)
