About the Role:

This is a part-time opportunity working on night shifts at LeConte Medical Center. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients in our 42-bed medical unit.

Job Summary:

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses.">
  • Perform hands-on care, assistance with daily living activities, and technical tasks for a group of patients.">

Responsibilities:

  1. ">
  2. Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration rates, blood pressures, weights, heights, and intake-output measurements.">
  3. Encourage patients to turn, cough, and take deep breaths and use incentive spirometry as specified by the plan of care.">
  4. Ambulate patients and assist them in and out of bed, into wheelchairs, and transport when necessary.">
  5. Attend to nutritional needs, which may include distributing meal trays, feeding, filling, and passing out water pitchers.">
  6. Provide morning or evening care, which may include bed baths, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linens, cleaning over-bed tables and bedside stands, straightening rooms, and other supportive care as needed.">
  7. Empty drains, canisters, urine bags, bedpans, and emesis basins and record intake and output.">
  8. Assist in maintaining a safe environment, which may include reporting equipment that is out of order, appropriate handling of linen, and storing supplies.">
  9. Provides general care such as positioning, lifting, or turning patients; assisting in the use of bedpans, urinals, or commodes; preoperative supportive care; and application/removal of abdominal binders or anti-embolism stockings and sequential compression devices.">
  10. Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens as ordered.">
  11. Perform tasks such as ROM (range of motion), assist with ambulatory devices, and perform phlebotomy (requires additional training) and EKG (requires special training).">
  12. Promptly answer patient call lights and respond to patient requests.">
  13. Report significant changes in patients' conditions to registered nurses.">
  14. Help maintain a clean and orderly patient and work environment.">
  15. Employ all established infection control policies, including standard precautions, transmission-based isolation precautions, OSHA standards, safety measures, and proper body mechanics in performance of the job.">
  16. Document/maintain patient records as appropriate.">
  17. Gather equipment for O2 setup, check O2 for connection and proper placement, and check for proper functioning of equipment at patient bedside.">
  18. Ambulate patients with oxygen.">
  19. Set up suction equipment and check for proper function.">
  20. Demonstrate knowledge and competency in providing age-specific needs of the population served.">
  21. Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.">

Requirements:

  • ">
  • CNA certification from the state of Tennessee required.">
  • CPR/BLS certification required.">
  • No minimum education or experience required; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the CNA license and/or certification.">
  • Ability to perform skills listed on the nursing assistant checklist.">
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.">
  • Ability to work towards achieving goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives.">

Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per year
