About the Role:
">This is a part-time opportunity working on night shifts at LeConte Medical Center. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients in our 42-bed medical unit.
Job Summary:

- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses.">
- Perform hands-on care, assistance with daily living activities, and technical tasks for a group of patients.">
Responsibilities:
">- ">
- Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration rates, blood pressures, weights, heights, and intake-output measurements.">
- Encourage patients to turn, cough, and take deep breaths and use incentive spirometry as specified by the plan of care.">
- Ambulate patients and assist them in and out of bed, into wheelchairs, and transport when necessary.">
- Attend to nutritional needs, which may include distributing meal trays, feeding, filling, and passing out water pitchers.">
- Provide morning or evening care, which may include bed baths, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linens, cleaning over-bed tables and bedside stands, straightening rooms, and other supportive care as needed.">
- Empty drains, canisters, urine bags, bedpans, and emesis basins and record intake and output.">
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment, which may include reporting equipment that is out of order, appropriate handling of linen, and storing supplies.">
- Provides general care such as positioning, lifting, or turning patients; assisting in the use of bedpans, urinals, or commodes; preoperative supportive care; and application/removal of abdominal binders or anti-embolism stockings and sequential compression devices.">
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens as ordered.">
- Perform tasks such as ROM (range of motion), assist with ambulatory devices, and perform phlebotomy (requires additional training) and EKG (requires special training).">
- Promptly answer patient call lights and respond to patient requests.">
- Report significant changes in patients' conditions to registered nurses.">
- Help maintain a clean and orderly patient and work environment.">
- Employ all established infection control policies, including standard precautions, transmission-based isolation precautions, OSHA standards, safety measures, and proper body mechanics in performance of the job.">
- Document/maintain patient records as appropriate.">
- Gather equipment for O2 setup, check O2 for connection and proper placement, and check for proper functioning of equipment at patient bedside.">
- Ambulate patients with oxygen.">
- Set up suction equipment and check for proper function.">
- Demonstrate knowledge and competency in providing age-specific needs of the population served.">
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.">
Requirements:
- ">
- CNA certification from the state of Tennessee required.">
- CPR/BLS certification required.">
- No minimum education or experience required; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the CNA license and/or certification.">
- Ability to perform skills listed on the nursing assistant checklist.">
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.">
- Ability to work towards achieving goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives.">
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per year
