Job Overview

Position: Field Welder – Team Leader

Role Summary: As a Field Welder – Team Leader, you will be tasked with executing all welding, operational, and assembly duties at diverse job locations, primarily within a 300-mile radius of the operational base. The company will arrange accommodations for travel assignments.

Your role will also involve supervising and ensuring the quality and productivity of welding operations while providing leadership and direction to a group of welders and laborers. You will be instrumental in coordinating workflow, maintaining equipment, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence in welding practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership in Welding: Demonstrate leadership by guiding a team of welders, offering direction, training, and support to guarantee that welding tasks are executed safely, accurately, and on time.
  2. Quality Control: Monitor welding activities to ensure that welded components adhere to quality standards and specifications. Perform inspections and quality assessments to confirm the integrity of welds.
  3. Coordination of Workflow: Collaborate with project managers and installation managers to plan welding activities, allocate resources, and prioritize tasks according to project needs.
  4. Maintenance of Equipment: Ensure welding equipment and tools are maintained in optimal condition, conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and organizing repairs or replacements as necessary. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work vehicle.
  5. Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensure all welding operations adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Conduct safety briefings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  6. Training and Mentorship: Provide training, mentorship, and constructive feedback to field welders and apprentices, aiding in their skill enhancement and promoting continuous improvement in welding techniques.
  7. Documentation Management: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and safety documentation. Ensure all documentation is complete, current, and accessible as required.
  8. Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve challenges that arise during welding operations, collaborating with team members to implement effective solutions and minimize disruptions.
  9. Effective Communication: Communicate clearly with team members and management, providing concise updates on project status, issues, and resolutions.
  10. Continuous Development: Stay updated on advancements in welding technology, techniques, and equipment, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications:

  1. Welding Certification: American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 SMAW certification is mandatory.

Note: Candidates will undergo a welding assessment during the interview process.

  1. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in welding operations, with a proven track record in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  2. Leadership Qualities: Strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and guiding a team towards shared objectives.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficient in various welding techniques, processes, and materials, with a solid grasp of welding blueprints and symbols, principles, and best practices.
  4. Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols related to welding operations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  5. Communication Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with team members.
  6. Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of analyzing complex issues, identifying root causes, and implementing practical solutions.
  7. Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  8. Physical Endurance: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.

Within 30 days of employment, the employee must complete and obtain the following certifications provided by the company:

OSHA 30-Hour Training

NCCCO Certified Rigger Level 1 Practical Examination

Heavy Equipment Operators Certification
