About the Stores Executive Internship

At Target, we're committed to helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. As a Stores Executive Intern, you'll have the opportunity to lead a retail team within a Target store and gain a realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader role (Assistant Store Manager). This paid 40-hour/week, hands-on training program is designed to develop and prepare you for store leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of hourly team members and team leaders to deliver exceptional guest service and sales results
  • Develop and implement business strategies and goals to drive store performance
  • Recruit, select, and talent manage hourly team members and leaders
  • Work closely with Executive Team Leads and other leaders to gain an understanding of their roles and responsibilities
  • Participate in daily huddles and meetings to discuss store priorities and goals
What You'll Learn
  • Guest service fundamentals and experience building and managing a guest-first team culture
  • Retail business fundamentals, including setting and planning departmental workload to support business priorities
  • Leadership skills, including recruiting, selecting, and talent managing hourly team members and leaders
  • Business acumen, including understanding all business areas and developing business strategies and goals
Requirements
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong interest in working in retail, specifically within Target stores in management
  • Leadership skills and team-oriented thinking
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude
  • Effective communication skills
