Position Overview:
As a Certified Operating Room Technician at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care within the surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
As an OR Technician, your duties will include:
  • Engaging with patients, their families, and healthcare team members to ensure a compassionate and respectful approach to care.
  • Collaborating with the interprofessional team to support patient safety and high-quality surgical outcomes.
  • Preparing and maintaining the Operating Room (OR) by ensuring cleanliness and readiness of surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Participating in team time-outs to promote safety and quality during surgical procedures.
  • Assisting the surgical team with gowning and gloving procedures.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the sterile field during operations.
  • Providing comprehensive reports to incoming personnel regarding the status of surgical procedures and equipment.
  • Conducting counts of surgical instruments and materials with the circulating nurse to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization post-surgery.
  • Supporting the management of supplies and equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Contributing to a safe and organized environment in the Operating Room.
  • Acting as a mentor to new surgical team members as required.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
  • A High School Diploma.
  • Completion of an accredited OR Technician training program.
  • Current BLS and OR Technician certification.
  • Certification from NCCT or NBSTSA.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a scrub role.
