AWS Data Center Operations Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Technician to join our team at Amazon Web Services, Inc. This is a unique opportunity to work on the most challenging problems in the field of data center operations and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment within the data center, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot facility equipment and rack-level events within internal SLAs, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Perform limited maintenance tasks, including filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements.
- Provide support to Data Center Operations technicians, collaborating to ensure seamless operations.
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures, identifying and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Write procedures and documentation, contributing to the development of best practices.
- Work a 12-hour shift (rotating 3 and 4-day work weeks, days or nights), adapting to changing schedules and priorities.
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log, monitoring performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory, optimizing resource allocation.
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance, ensuring quality and adherence to procedures.
- Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for any one of the region's sites, providing timely and effective support.
- Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies, maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of AWS data centers.
- Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities, identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of maintenance experience on mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Experience operating electrical or mechanical systems in a mission-critical environment (i.e., data center, telecom, etc.).
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.
- Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline.
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS/EPMS).
- 4+ years of Data Center Engineering Experience.
- Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Operating engineering license(s) such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent.
- Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License, or CFC license (Universal or minimum Type II), or NFPA 70E Certification.
