Research and Scholarship Vice Chair Position
The VCU Department of Family Medicine seeks an exceptional professional to serve as the Vice Chair for Research and Scholarship. This role will lead the department's research team, overseeing all aspects of family medicine research and scholarship.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chair in fostering an environment that values diverse clinical, translational, and community-based research
- Provide oversight and support to the department's research and scholarship efforts
- Advise the Department Chair on research and scholarship priorities, funding opportunities, and needs
- Develop and maintain annual operating budgets for research and scholarship programs
- Collaborate with university and hospital leaders to promote departmental research and scholarship initiatives
- Foster a culture of innovation and coordination across all training sites
Required Qualifications:
- Eligibility to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Completed residency program in Family Medicine
- Board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine
- 3-5 years of experience in family medicine research and scholarship
- Diverse and sustained funding track record
- Success working with a team of researchers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading research teams
- Oversight of department or organizational budgets
- Coordinated multiple projects across a team of researchers
