Job Function:

As a Truck Driver at Fareway Stores, you will play a vital role in the safe and timely delivery of goods to our retail stores. Your expertise in operating a semi-truck, ensuring the secure transport of cargo, and adhering to all relevant traffic and safety regulations is essential in helping us maintain our efficient retail store operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect equipment before and after trips, reporting any necessary conditions.
  • Read delivery assignments prior to departure.
  • Drive tractor-trailers, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations to transport and deliver products or materials, possibly over long distances.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Drive trucks to weigh stations as necessary along routes to document weight and conform to state regulations.
  • Maintain driver logs according to regulations.
  • Operate on-board technology.
  • Return backhauls as assigned.
  • Report to work when scheduled.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all assigned equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years old or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Class A CDL.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of over-the-road verifiable experience.
  • Successful completion of an approved and accredited CDL transportation program based on the FMCSA Safety Curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Uses good judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to effectively interpret DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Ability to understand and follow maps and instructions.
  • Successful completion of driving/backing evaluation by a Fareway CDL Trainer.
  • Knowledge of Samsara ELDs is preferred, not required.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities.
  • Basic math skills are required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, crawling, balancing, bending, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to handle stress, including emergency situations.
  • Must pass FMCSA Clearinghouse check, DOT pre-employment physical and work screen, drug screen, and criminal background check.

Work Environment:

  • Generally, work inside climate-controlled tractors. Some exposure to outdoor seasonal temperatures.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and fumes.
  • Noise level in work environment is low to moderate.
