Aureus Medical Group - Imaging is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team as a travel professional. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading healthcare organization and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic studies and radiopharmaceutical therapeutic administrations utilizing Nuc Med and/or PED/CT equipment.
- Acquire and process patient exams in accordance with accrediting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and as outlined in department protocols.
- Review cases with the radiologist when appropriate and review labs and patient history to perform correct exams.
- Administer IV radiopharmaceuticals by means of existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture and placing IV line.
- Screen patients for possibility of pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
- Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy and review patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
- Take steps to acquire additional information if needed from the patient, ordering provider and/or Radiologist.
- Demonstrate acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and alignment.
- Review patient data for accuracy, quality and completeness and transfer and verify image data in PACS.
- Provide necessary medical history and information for Radiologist interpretation and utilize the web servers and email systems to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
- Maintain imaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area.
- Recognize malfunctions and service needs and report service needs in a timely manner.
- Ensure patient, visitor and environmental safety and report safety events immediately including those that are a near miss.
- Assist in instruction of students and new staff as necessary and may perform duties of Nuc Med Lead or Imaging Coordinator in his/her absence.
- Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarking and assist other areas during downtimes so to maintain productivity.
- May be required to perform duties of other modalities within the department to which licensers are held by the technologist/sonographer.
- CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- State License-Nuclear Medicine Tech-Illinois
- Ability to lift 50-100lbs
