Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support our inpatient neurology consult service at University Hospitals Tripoint with occasional cross-coverage at Lake West.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with new telehealth visits to consulting neurologists and provide subsequent care to established consult patients.
  • Perform patient assessment and assign diagnosis based on recorded assessment data and current scientific and research-based evidence.
  • Establish and implement treatment plans in accordance with care paths, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers in an interdisciplinary approach to provide care to patients and families.
  • Order and perform routine diagnostic procedures, develop and implement treatment plans, and monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
  • Contribute to the educational development of staff, patients, family, and self.
  • Provide education through role modeling and in-services to meet identified learning needs and promote professionalism.
  • Advance own professional development through self-directed learning, continuing education, and participation in peer review.
  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with patients/customers and co-workers.
  • Take responsibility for self-development and support a learning environment.
  • Display commitment to the mission of University Hospitals and its values.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated competence as a practitioner.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • A variety of technical patient care devices specific to the clinical area.
  • Computers and selected office equipment.
Education/Expertise
  • Nurse Practitioner: Nursing Doctorate or Master of Science in Nursing with emphasis on clinical practice.
  • Physician Assistant: Completion of a formal Physician Assistant training from an accredited program with NCCPA certification.
