Custodial Assistant

As a Substitute Custodian with Travis Unified School District, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities. Under the supervision of the Head Custodian, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and maintain assigned areas or facilities daily, including mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming floors, dusting and cleaning surfaces, and emptying trash.
- Perform regularly scheduled cleanings, such as stripping, waxing, and shampooing floors, cleaning windows and ceilings, and removing and cleaning lighting fixtures.
- Polish and clean yard areas daily, alerting trash service or other personnel of overflows or missed rounds.
- Diagnose and repair minor maintenance issues, such as drainage problems or furniture repairs.
- Assist in the cafeteria and after-hours function clean-up as required, and set up and remove furniture for special events.
- Maintain student conduct and report any incidents to the district or facility administrators.
- Monitor physical plant and operations to identify potential issues that may affect operating conditions.
We are seeking individuals with a strong work ethic and attention to detail, who are able to work independently and as part of a team. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and previous experience in custodial or maintenance work is preferred. Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials, as well as moderate knowledge of emergency situations, is also essential.
