Discover the opportunity to teach lower division classes in Astronomy at the University of New Mexico's Los Alamos Branch campus. We are seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to contribute to our academic programs.

About the Role

This position involves teaching online and/or face-to-face Astronomy courses at the 1000 or 2000 level. You will be responsible for all aspects of your assigned classes, including content delivery, assignment development, grading, and assessment. Strong preference is given to candidates who reside in New Mexico.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Astronomy courses online and/or face-to-face
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
  • Evaluate student learning and provide feedback
  • Report grades and maintain accurate records
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must possess a Master's Degree in Astronomy or a related field. Alternatively, you may have a Master's degree in a different discipline with successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in Astronomy. A terminal degree (Ph.D., MFA, etc.) in the discipline is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

As an adjunct instructor at UNM Los Alamos, you can expect competitive compensation rates based on your credentials and course load. The current rate per credit hour is $912 for a Master's degree and $975 for a Ph.D. You will also be eligible for certain benefits, although specific details will be discussed during the hiring process.
