Position Overview

The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging machinery to generate high-quality images that aid physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This role requires strong teamwork skills and effective communication with patients, staff, and medical professionals. Additionally, the position demands the ability to manage sensitive, confidential, and high-pressure situations.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the MRI Imaging Specialist include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting and completing all MRI and radiography examinations as necessary, adhering to clinic protocols and procedures.
  • Pre-screening patients in collaboration with the MRI receptionist and assessing patients before the MRI procedure.
  • Delivering compassionate and attentive patient care, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Consulting with referring providers regarding any MRI-related inquiries or issues.
  • Directly communicating with NOIA to resolve any imaging discrepancies.
  • Handling confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Recognizing emergency situations and responding appropriately.
  • Completing all necessary documentation in the Radiology Information System (RICS) and Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) for patient care, demonstrating proficiency in these systems.
  • Performing quality control checks on MRI and radiography equipment, and notifying the information service and clinic manager of any issues.
  • Prioritizing and executing tasks efficiently, providing coverage for absent technologists as needed, and demonstrating independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Maintaining certification in basic life support as per the American Heart Association guidelines.
  • Implementing radiation safety protocols and magnetic resonance imaging safety measures consistently, as well as applying sterile techniques when required.
  • Executing additional duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager to ensure optimal clinic operations.
  • Adhering to all policies introduced during onboarding and outlined in the Associate Handbook.
Qualifications
  • Board Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MR or certification through ARMRIT.
  • Current Washington State Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience with musculoskeletal MRI examinations is required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a physician's office or ambulatory MRI department is preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating the SIGNA Explorer 1.5T version 25.1 MRI Scanner.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work may occur in both office and clinical settings. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges. Regularly requires verbal communication and listening. Occasionally, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds may be required. The position may involve working under stress or during irregular hours.
