Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at River Bluff Middle School. As a key member of our special education team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

Assist teaching staff in meeting the educational needs of all students, including those with special needs. Provide personal care and support to students as needed, including toileting, diapering, feeding, and dressing. Assist in the planning and implementation of instruction to individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of a teacher. Develop and implement individual student behavior plans to promote positive behavior and acceptance of differences. Work cooperatively with students, families, staff, and administrators to ensure a positive educational environment. Perform clerical tasks as necessary, including typing, copying, and preparing instructional materials. Participate in required staff development and serve as a resource person to the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

Must have a willingness to work with all students and be eligible for state certification as a special education EA. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and obtain first aid and CPR certification upon employment. Effective communication skills (oral and written) are required to work effectively with parents, students, and staff. General knowledge of computer applications in the classroom is preferred. Completion of 2 years of study at an institution of higher education or an associate's degree is preferred. Complies with the absence policies of the District.
