Job Overview

This position is integral to a premier, multi-disciplinary global team focused on Risk Advisory & Assurance Services. The team is dedicated to enhancing operational efficiency and delivering value by providing independent, risk-based assurance, guidance, and insights to the Board of Directors and Senior Management.

The primary responsibility of this role is to supervise all operational activities within the maritime Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security (HESS) sectors. This includes assessing adherence to safety management protocols and identifying opportunities for best practices within the HESS framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit and Advisory Functions:

  • Lead a team of 29 internal auditors across multiple brands.
  • Formulate the annual HESS audit strategy.
  • Oversee internal International Safety Management (ISM) audits, facilitating root cause analyses and the development of management action plans.
  • Conduct assessments of new vessels' ISM prior to delivery.
  • Manage shore-based HESS audits of port operations, training facilities, and tour operations.
  • Review processes, systems, and organizational designs across brands to extract best practice insights.
  • Monitor and evaluate management's progress on implementing agreed-upon improvements, including:
    • Action plans from SMS audits.
    • Action plans from shore-based audits and cross-brand reviews.
    • Action plans arising from HESS investigations.
  • Supervise staff training and development while maintaining the global quality control program.

Reporting:

  • Provide updates to the Chief Audit Officer regarding:
    • Daily HESS audit operations.
    • The annual HESS project agenda.
    • Audit scope, objectives, and current status.
    • Results and trends by HESS discipline.
    • Management's actions to address findings and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Report to the Board on:
    • The annual audit agenda.
    • Audit outcomes.
    • Trends related to HESS disciplines.
    • Status of management action plan implementations.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Senior Executive brand HESS Management, including brand Presidents, the Chief Maritime Officer, the CEO, and the Chair of the HESS Committees.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a maritime-related discipline; a Master's degree or relevant maritime licenses (e.g., Deck Officer, Chief Engineer) are preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of maritime industry experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong maritime background.

  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical abilities.

Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $240,000, with offers made based on relevant skills and experience.
