Job Title: Staff Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Psychiatrist to join our team at Merced County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services Department. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to patients in our mental health and alcohol and drug centers.

Job Summary:

The Staff Psychiatrist will be responsible for providing general, acute, and continuing psychiatric care to patients, including emergency on-call and call-back consultations. You will work closely with other medical and substance abuse practitioners to develop and implement treatment plans, and provide education and support to patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients in our mental health and alcohol and drug centers
  • Conduct emergency on-call and call-back consultations
  • Collaborate with other medical and substance abuse practitioners to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and staff
  • Order laboratory work and nursing follow-up care as needed
  • Complete medical and court records in accordance with mandated standards
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of treatment plans
Requirements:
  • Valid license to practice psychiatry issued by the California Medical Board
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatric Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and develop appropriate conclusions
